Scannell to Build Production Facility in Duncan, SC

Scannell Properties will lease a 77,000 square foot warehouse in Duncan, a town in Spartanburg County, South Carolina, for Brose – the world’s fifth-largest family-owned automotive supplier.  They will be occupying a portion of Building 1, a 155,000 square foot spec facility, at Hillside Park.

“We are very honored to have been selected by Brose as the location for this strategic facility within their American operations and BMW supply partnership,” says Bill Linville, Managing Director, Scannell Properties. “The Spartanburg location reinforces Spartanburg’s reputation to attract quality international manufacturing.”

Brose currently occupies 10 office spaces in Spartanburg Community College’s Center for Business and Entrepreneurial Development (CBED), a soft landing pad facility. The soft landing pad is an innovative new concept, designed to promote and house new economic development projects in the region. “A unique business strategy, landing pads allow companies to build a core while they ramp up operations in South Carolina,” the governor’s office stated in a news announcement. At the new facility, Brose will produce door systems, as well as systems for on-demand control of cooling air supply for automotive customers.

The new facility is expected to be operational in the fall of 2016 and is expected to provide approximately 60 jobs.
