Scannell adds new development manager

Posted by llong on May 5, 2012

Scannell Properties announced the addition of John Vyverberg to its development team. With over 10 years of experience in all facets of construction and construction management, John brings deep expertise to Scannell and its clients.

In the role as development manager at Scannell, John oversees the progress of projects from RFP to project completion. Spending an average of 12-24 months on a project, John works intimately with clients as well as construction contractors—two roles he’s quite familiar with himself:

  • Owner: John owned Sunn Construction Services for four years, managing a team of superintendents, project managers, estimators, designers and administration staff. He successfully grew the company from a start-up to $4 million in annual sales.
  • Construction Contractor: In addition to owning a construction firm, John was involved with a number of large-scale oil field development projects around the world with Exxon Mobil, managing construction contracts upwards of $300M+.

With experience as both an owner and a general contractor, John is able to provide Scannell clients with a unique industry perspective. He understands all the technical – and often complex – aspects of a construction project, including constructability analyses, estimating, geo-tech, environmental and more. Additionally, he’s able to represent the interests of owners, defining project scope, serving as an interface with architects and builders, managing team expectations and fielding questions.
